How are buyer’s agents paid?
Buyer’s agents are paid a 50% commission split from the seller’s agent, which is paid by the property owner as part of his agreement with his agent. The total commission will range from 2-6% of the final purchase price (or in the case of a lease, from the gross total rents agreed upon for the lease), which is then split between the seller’s and buyer’s agent. If the buyer does not use the representation, and is not licensed real estate professional, then the seller’s agent keeps both halves of the commission.
